The story behind Equipped
It started with a conversation.
We were talking to an ops manager at a 45-person digital agency in London. Brilliant person. Running a dozen things at once. And somewhere in the conversation, she said something that stuck:
"Honestly? I have no idea how many company devices are actually out there right now. And I'm terrified of the day that question gets asked in the wrong context."
She wasn't being careless. She wasn't failing at her job. She was doing everything right, but with tools that were never designed for someone in her position.
Enterprise IT management platforms are built for large organisations with dedicated IT departments, big budgets, and time for months-long implementation projects. They assume technical expertise and resource that most SMEs simply don't have.
And yet the obligation is identical. A 40-person business has exactly the same GDPR requirements, the same device security responsibilities, and the same duty of care as a 400-person one. It just has far fewer people, far less time, and no IT department to rely on.
We thought that was wrong. And we decided to do something about it.
